Purple Screen Test Tool
Use this purple screen as a neon-style light or background, or to find stuck green subpixels and check color uniformity.
White Screen
Why use a White Screen?
This purple screen tool fills your display with solid purple (#800080). Purple is made from red and blue at half strength with green switched off. That makes it useful for spotting pixels where the green part is stuck on, and for checking how evenly your screen shows mixed colors. It also works as a moody purple light or background.
Is your screen turning purple on its own? That is a different problem. Read our guide to purple or pink tint on a monitor, TV or phone for causes and fixes.
How to Use the Purple Screen
- Open the purple screen and click the full-screen button.
- To test, turn brightness up and look across the whole screen. To use it as light, turn brightness down.
- Press Esc or tap the button again to exit.
- Click Download to save a purple background in 720p, 1080p, 4K or your screen size.
What a Purple Screen Shows
- Stuck green subpixels: green should be completely off, so a stuck green subpixel shows as a bright green or white dot.
- Mixed-color uniformity: purple depends on red and blue being balanced. Areas that look more blue or more red reveal uneven color on the panel.
- Dark-tone uniformity: because this purple is fairly dark, it also shows clouding and uneven backlight on LCD screens.
Using a Purple Screen as Light or Background
Gaming and Streaming Setups
A purple display adds a neon-style glow behind a desk or in the background of a stream or video.
Creative Photos
Use a tablet or second monitor showing purple as a colored side light for portraits and product photos. Mixing it with a blue or pink light on the other side creates a popular two-tone look.
Wallpapers and Backgrounds
Download the purple image as a simple wallpaper or as a solid background for slides and video edits. For a lighter lavender, enter #E6E6FA in the HEX field; for a brighter violet, try #8A2BE2.
