Yellow Screen Test Tool
Use this yellow screen to find stuck blue subpixels, check warm color uniformity, or as a bright warm light.
White Screen
Why use a White Screen?
This yellow screen tool shows a full-screen solid yellow (#FFFF00). Yellow is made by turning on the red and green parts of each pixel while blue stays off. That makes it a useful color for spotting pixels where the blue part is stuck on, checking warm color uniformity, and adding a bright, warm light to a room or photo.
How to Test Your Screen with Yellow
- Open the yellow screen and enter full-screen mode.
- Look for white or light-blue dots. On yellow, these usually mean a blue subpixel is stuck on.
- Look for red or green dots, which mean one of the other subpixels has failed.
- Check that the yellow looks equally bright and pure in all four corners.
What a Yellow Screen Shows
- Stuck blue subpixels: they stand out as pale or white dots, because blue should be completely off.
- Dead red or green subpixels: they show as green or red dots.
- Greenish or orange areas: uneven yellow points to a color uniformity problem on the panel.
- Banding: visible stripes in a solid yellow often come from limited color depth or display processing settings.
Using a Yellow Screen as Light
Warm Light for Photos and Video
A yellow screen gives a warm, sunny cast for creative photos, product shots or video backgrounds. Lower the brightness for a softer glow.
Evening Ambient Light
Yellow light contains much less blue than white light. Some people prefer a dim yellow or orange screen as a reading or ambient light in the evening.
Color Matching
Show yellow on two monitors side by side to see whether one leans green or orange. This helps when setting up matching monitors.
Why Does My Screen Look Yellow?
If your normal white screen looks yellow, the cause is usually a setting, not this tool:
- Night Shift, Night Light, Eye Comfort or a blue light filter is on.
- The color temperature is set to warm in your monitor or TV menu.
- On phones, True Tone or adaptive color may make white look warmer in warm room lighting.
- On older LCD screens, the backlight can turn slightly yellow with age.
Turn these settings off and test again with the white screen tester. If one area stays yellow, it may be a panel or pressure problem; see our guide to phone screen problems.
